Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about BIBI CARE, our missions in Tanzania, and how you can get involved.
What does "BIBI CARE" stand for?
BIBI CARE was founded in honor of Ma Justina Kokugonza, a rural "Bibi" (grandmother) from Busingo sub-village in Rwanda village, Muleba, Kagera region. Our name represents the wisdom, compassion, and nurturing spirit of the grandmothers who sustain rural African communities.
What is the WASITIRI Campaign?
WASITIRI is our flagship menstrual health program. We distribute sanitary pads and provide reproductive health education to schoolgirls to ensure they never miss school due to "period poverty."
How are your sanitary pads produced?
In the short term, we source high-quality pads from established producers across other regions in Tanzania. Our long-term strategy involves establishing our own eco-friendly production units in Kagera, utilizing local banana fibre technology to ensure sustainability and community empowerment.
How is my donation used?
We maintain a 100% transparency policy. Donations go directly into project costs—such as materials for school children, health supplies, and community sports events. We are registered in Tanzania and subject to regular audits.
Can I volunteer if I don't live in Tanzania?
Yes! We have a "Digital Advocacy" wing for remote volunteers who assist with communications, fundraising, and technical support. For on-site volunteering, we welcome professionals in health, education, and legal fields.
What is the BIBI CUP?
The BIBI CUP is an annual football tournament designed to engage rural youth. It’s a platform for unity, discipline, and community sensitization on health and environmental issues.
What is BIBI Trust?
BIBI Trust is the social enterprise arm of BIBI CARE, established to support the long-term sustainability of our programs. It develops income-generating activities and ethical business partnerships to strengthen our financial independence and reduce donor dependence.
